ACT and New Records

Took the ACT yesterday. That was heck on earth. >_<

After the ACT, Kayley showed me this hole-in-the-wall record store in the Boro. It's called Grand Palace Records, and it's on the square. The bag says it's at 128 1/2 N. Church Street. I found another Beatles record. It's the Beatles '65 one. Got it for $11. Apparrently, it's worth something, too. Not that I'm going to get rid of it. They were giving away 45's, so I picked up two. "Life in the Fast Lane" / "The Last Resort" by The Eagles and "Rock'n Me" / "Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma Ma" by Steve Miller.

Most surprising of all, I found on cd the first rock opera-- "S.F. Sorrow" by The Pretty Things. From what I've listened to so far, it's really good. Here's something in the liner notes that's interesting... "S.F. Sorrow was, without douby, the first and most complete 'rock opera' to be released and recorded. The conception and production of the album pre-dates Townshend's 'Tommy' by a full year and he is on record as acknowledging that it provided a 'key influence' in writing and recording that record. Arthur Brown, a close associate of Townshend's at the time (and more importantly, also signed to Lambert and Stamp) suggests that the record's influence on Kit Lambert was more telling. 'He saw the power of the idea, and just hammered away at Townshend to write an opera like "S.F. Sorrow"' recalls Brown - 'Lambert was really creative and got 'Tommy' away in The States and saved The Who's career - probably at the expense of "S.F. Sorrow" and The Pretties.'"

Finished The Mummy (or Ramses the Damned) by Anne Rice. Wow. That is a wonderful book. Am currently reading Timeline by Michael Crichton. That is wonderful, too. Different from the movie, but I am still enthralled.

I'm not buying a class ring. I found my dad's from 1976. I can wear it. I like it, too.

Wow. Umm... Blargh.
